Anglers in the central west have an exciting new spot to fish! DPIRD Fisheries has worked with Orange City Council to open pedestrian access and recreational fishing for certain species on the bank of the eastern shoreline of Spring Creek Reservoir.

Recreational fishers can now use artificial flies and lures to target Murray Cod, Golden Perch and Rainbow Trout which have been stocked into Spring Creek Reservoir by DPIRD, as well as Carp and Redfin which are also present.

Anglers should ensure they are aware of the fishing regulations by looking out for signage at the permitted fishing zone, visiting the DPIRD website or downloading the free FishSmart app.
Last September, 250 ex-broodstock Rainbow Trout, each weighing more than two kilograms, were stocked into the dam to develop the fishery and boost the fishing opportunities. DPIRD will continue to stock Spring Creek Reservoir with native fish and trout produced at NSW Government hatcheries, as part of the NSW Fish Stocking Program, with support from the NSW Recreational Fishing Trust.
