Carl jocumsen a local Toowoomba based angler has made it to the 2023 bassmaster classic after 10 years of trying in America.

The best master classic is the elitist of bass fishing world with many international Anglers from Japan competing each year in the bassmaster elite series.

Carl jocumsen has certainly had his fair share of knockdowns and disappointments over the last 10 years.

Carl’s “fear my heart” motto passionate drive of never giving up, surely has done him well with him reaching his first ever bass master classic in 2023.

When many others have told Carl that it cannot be done, it’s too hard for an Australian can not compete at this level of bass fishing .

This saw Carl digger deeper than never before with true Australian grit determination and desire, trying harder and eventually achieving his goals after 10 years of fishing his first ever bassmaster classic.

Carl’s first elite series best master win came in 2022 when he fish the 10th killer bass master elite series competition.

Carl won the event right down to the wire winning his maiden bassmaster elite series tournament.win which he dreamt about as a 16 year old kid in Toowoomba Queensland.

Coles apprenticeship started in Australia when he was old enough to compete he won multiple Australian bass fishing tournaments and Grand finals over a 10-year period.

When Carl found there was no more Australian tournament said he could win he said his sights purely on making his American debut and aiming for the bass master classic one day.

After the first year of competing in America Carl found himself in financial concerns running out of money and living out of his truck.

This is when Steve Fields from Hobie fishing stepped up and made that call to Carl asking how his money situation is going.

Carl replied not good I’ve just ran out of money.

Steve Fields from Hobie fishing said well I believe in you Carl and I would like to support you in your American dream endeavours to make the best master classic one day.

What a fantastic kind-hearted gesture from Steve Fields from Hobie fishing.

Folks if you know a teenager that is bored and sitting at home, take them fishing in a Hobie kayak.

Because this may like Carl also start a spark deep down that one day, they could go and fish the elite levels of bass fishing as well.

Carl jocumsen started the 2023 bassmaster elite series in extremely good form making a top 10 in the first event at Florida’s lake Okeechobee with a 6th placing fishing championship Sunday with the top 10 anglers.

Carl jocumsen also made an impressive second appearance at seminole finishing 3 ounces just outside championship Sunday top 10 fish off finishing 11th.

These two great finishes has put Carl Jorgensen in a very healthy position in the angler of the year points, and a couple of good shacks that I’m sure we’ll come in handy for Carl.

Carl and Kayla and a whole team of anglers and supporters and sponsors are even doing a clean up at Knoxville just before the 2023 bassmaster classic.

This is a fantastic idea of calves that started a couple years ago and has made a real difference to The Fishery cleaning up rubbish pollution and signifies the passion that Carl and Kayla have for our fisheries.
